Maths Workshops
At Ravensmead, we love to get our families involved in their children's learning and one of the ways in which we do this are through workshops throughout the year.
Y3 ‘Bring a parent to school’ Maths workshop
On Tuesday 5th March and Wednesday 6th March, the children in year 3 had a ‘Bring a parent to school workshop.’ Each child brought an adult to school to take part in a maths lesson which had been designed by the children themselves.
The session started in the same way that all of our maths lessons start, with some quick mental arithmetic questions and then of course joining in with the BBC Supermovers (with some parents being much more enthusiastic than others :-) ). The children and parents were then set a challenge – a times tables challenge, with the parents completing a test that the children complete each week to see who could score the highest.
Afterwards the children and adults rotated around 4 different maths activities including art, using the ipads, column addition and written multiplication.
A super morning was had by everyone and it was lovely to see the children and parents interacting and working together.
