We are holding a 'crazy hat day' on Friday 10th May to raise money for our fantastic school. Please see the leaflet below.

We have had a great time planting sunflower seeds that were given to us by our chosen charity, PEEPS. We have planted them so that whenever we post updates about their growth, we will hopefully raise awareness of HIE.

Thank you for your support in raising funds during our PJ day. We raised an amazing £164.77  which will be used to pay for exciting end of year treats for our children.

Aaron Bell paid us a visit just before Christmas. It is two years since his last visit and we were lucky to have the opportunity to ask him all about his plans for Newcastle town centre. He also led an assembly where he told us more about his role as an MP.

Our PEEPS aware bear has been named! During the Christmas fair, children paid 20p to propose a name for the bear which was donated to PEEPS. Once the names were all collected, we voted for our favourite. We chose 'Cookie'!

We had a special assembly led by Liz from the PEEPS charity. She told us all about the work that the charity does and gave us the special job of naming the PEEPS aware bear.

Our Chair, Secretary and Treasurer attended the Audley Remembrance service on 12.11.23. They read a poem and laid a wreath in remembrance on behalf of Ravensmead.

Our chosen charity for the academic year 2023-2024 is PEEPS in recognition of Hypoxic-Ischaemic Encephalopathy (H.I.E.)  We are looking forward to having an assembly led by a spokesperson from the charity.

Thank you once again for all your support. Your kind donations during our sports days raised a fabulous £230.88 for CRY!

The support from our amazing children and parents enabled us to raise £142.26 for CRY during our Christmas Toy Sale.

We have received a certificate from CRY to thank us for the money we raised in November during our "Spotty Day".

We have received a certificate for the money we raised for Dougie Mac through our cake sales in 2021 and 2022. We are being awarded a silver leaf star of recognition which will be put on display in their main office in Blurton. After 12 months, the leaf will then be given to us to put on display in our school.

Our executives represented Ravensmead at the remembrance service in Audley on Sunday 13th November. They read 'Flander's Fields' and put down a wreath on behalf of the school.

Some of our School Council members visited Wilbraham House to deliver a harvest parcel. The children sang songs for the residents and had a lovely time!

We are holding a fundraiser for Children in need and CRY on Friday 18th November. Please see the flyer below.

We held our first fundraiser of the year on Friday 7th October. In aid of Dougie Mac, we held our second 'Have a cake at break' event and raised an amazing £351.10! Thank you to everyone who donated and bought cakes.

CRY fundraising 2021-22

During the last academic year, the School Council worked hard to fundraise for our chosen charity CRY.

During the year events included:

Mrs Hughes came to visit to collect the cheque for the money we raised from our "Dress like Dan" day. She was very happy with our work and is looking forward to the next fundraiser. We have lots of exciting ideas for what we could do next!

For our first fundraiser for CRY, we are holding a "Dress like Dan" day on Thursday 17th February 2022. Please see the attached letter for details!

Some of our School Council representatives attended the Diglake remembrance service on Sunday 16th January. We carried lamps to the cemetery where we had a short service to remember the men and boys that died. We then carried them back to the Church where we placed them on the alter rail. It was a lovely service.

On 19th November, we were lucky enough to meet our local MP Aaron Bell. We had a question and answer session where we were able to ask Mr Bell lots of questions about what it is like to be an MP and what he aims to do for our local community. We also gave him a tour around our school and he held an assembly with the Year 5 and Year 6 pupils where they were able to ask him more questions.  We had a fantastic time and are looking forward to his next visit.

We have chosen CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) as our charity this year as it is a charity very close to the hearts of the pupils and teachers in our school.  A member of our local community who works closely with the charity came to speak to us and told us all about what the charity does. We have some very exciting ideas for how we can raise money for this charity in the Spring term.

In order to provide food donations to the local foodbank, we organised a 'Harvest Haul'. Children across the school brought in lots of donations which we then sorted into bags ready to go to less fortunate families. We were so pleased with how much food was donated.

Our first fundraiser of the year for 2021-2022 was 'Have a cake at break'. We held this fundraiser to raise money for Douglas Macmillan. Children across the school brought in cakes which we sold in the hall at break time for 50p each. We sold lots of cakes and raised an amazing £407!

Thank you for all the amazing, generous donations during our Sports Day events. We raised £230.88 for CRY!
