The DfE is preparing schools by encouraging positive environmental behaviours and creating a better environment for children’s futures. They want every setting to join them in making education more sustainable and helping children get the skills they need for a greener future.
A carbon footprint is the total of an individual's, a family's or an organisation's greenhouse gas emissions. Greenhouse gasses are those gasses responsible for global warming. Examples of greenhouse gasses include carbon dioxide and methane. These are emitted by burning fuels like coal, gas, wood or oil.
